The Research Centre for Japanese Studies of the University of Kelaniya is a research forum for Japanese related studies both in Sri Lanka and Japan. It promotes wide variety of research scopes to investigate language, culture, literature, economy, society and other technical studies related to Japan and Sri Lanka.
This centre was established in February of 2016 at the faculty of Humanities under the Department of Modern Languages.
The objective of this center is to open new horizons to academic researchers mainly in the fields of language, culture, literature, economic and other sociological studies etc. and to promote research related to Japan in Sri-Lanka.
Functions of the Research Centre
- Introduction of Japanese related research culture in all disciplines.
- Organization of an annual international research symposium and publication of proceedings.
- Organizing cultural events, academic exchange programs, guest lecture series etc.
- Organizing Japanese Language seminars, teacher training workshops, Language Day, academic support in necessary fields.
To support both Japanese and Sri Lankan researchers to share their experiences with each other and promote research related to Japan
To excel in the field of Japanese language and culture, while strengthening the bridge between Sri Lanka and Japan.
